these outbreaks are getting pretty severe. Moore was hit with an EF5 in 1999 also

my childhood best friend has lived in Tulsa for 20 plus years. Was out visiting him when this wall cloud came in. Never seen anything like that before or since. I'll have to give him a call. Scary stuff.

I've been watching the local TV station, two elementary schools took a direct hit and many children are missing and presumed dead. Really sad

"We just put on our motorcycle helmets and got on the closet and that was the only room that was spared."

A lot of kids.

Appears to be really bad news from the schools involved.

I saw a video of one of the twisters and it was huge!!

scary stuff and terrible news. Its less than 3 hours from where we live. its supposed to be pretty hairy this afternoon and last week we had the tornadoes in granbury, thats 30 miles away from home. You can see the energy building in the sky, humidity, wind, heat. Its crazy. My thoughts and prayers go out to these families.

That's one thing we don't get up here in the north east...that sensation of heat and humidity when you can see the thunderheads racing for 60,000 feet.

Back in Iowa we'd get it in the afternoon...down in Alabama I've seen it at 7am!

One of my customers (info systems for healthcare) lost one of their satellite hospitals (Moore associated with Norman Regional - another area that gets hard hit). Thank god no staff or patients were killed as far as they can tell.

The pictures coming out today of the devastation are incredible. Mother Nature can be so humbling at these times.

If only there was a truly effective warning system that would give people more time to prepare and react other than hearing the warning signal as it hits.

We spend...er correct that...we WASTE so much time and energy on truly useless advances in things like tv, cell phones, Iturds....I mean Ipods, and yet our most recent advancement in storm warning technology was to broadcast a warning on tv and radio?????

Maybe we need to put some thought and energy into what could truly save our lives?

T & P for all those effected by this storm (and any others to come).

Remember back in the mid 90's when there was a period of storm after storm after storm in the midwest? This could be one of those years....

Can't even imagine how the parents must feel who lost their children. :(
