spot removal
 

I have black spots on my plastic/pvc through hull fittings , I think its mold I cannot find a product to remove them , tried simply green , whitewall cleaner , and some black streak remover nothing working anyone have any ideas ?

Stuff take the chrome off a brand new trailer hitch,,,

Greased Lightning and if that don't work acetone.
Above water line I'm assuming since they are pvc !

Whatever is strong enough to get the spots off will also dry rot the plastic.
I'd spray bleach on it and walk away

Replace the plastic with stainless or bronze, you're going to have to do it sooner or later anyway.

i'm going to try bleach , hate to start ripping apart the boat to change to stainless just for some spots

Ive heard that bleach is awful for non skid gelcoat? Am i wrong here. Id love to just spray some bleach on deck after a day of fishing. keep it nice and white. Thoughts?

Won't hurt it, they clean the stuff with acetone in the factory. If you want to be safe, hose it off after a few minutes.

Bleach is too powerful. It destroyed my VHF antenna mounts when I used it to remove a bunch if blood.
The plastic mount eventually degraded and crumbled.

i bleach the living sh1t out of my deck every time. actually bleach the whole boat pretty much. actually, since i am being precise, i don't use bleach, i spray down with the clorox cleanup spray. spray it down, a little scrub where needed, hose off. everything stays minty fresh.
i buy these bottles by the half dozen. One bottle usually lasts for 3 cleanups.

So ive been using Soft Scrub with bleach since this thread. Makes daily wash down EASY. Gently spray the boat down. Coat the entire interior with it. Scrub down, and hammer it with the hose. Comes out WHITE, WHITE, WHITE everytime. Nice and easy. Beats the hell out of the starbrite stuff i was using.

BINGO! I skip the soft scrub and just use straight bleach. Of course I don't have any cloths that are not spotted now but the boat is WHITE!!

WHile I do bleach my boat when the boat is out of the water...you really should not use that while it is in the water. A cup of bleach in the water is really bad news for your harbor and waterways. You would be better emptying your trash in the water! Bleach kills everything even diluted. BTW I know there is no inforcement but I think the fine is something like 30K for putting even a cup of bleach in the water.

go stainless above and bronze below. The first thing I did on my boat is replace all those crappy plastic thru hulls. No thru hull should be plastic, not even above the waterline and ESP at, near or below. Btw when you go to replace them...I be some break off in your hands. The UV will get to them and they WILL fail, make no mistake.

all I use is bleach for a wash down. brings back the white from any blood or crap off the trees near my boat on a trailer.
