Run 4 cover
The bay has been invader by Bluefish. Went out this morning, wall to wall Blues. Why did God make Blues???? They are f$$$in' useless!!!!:af: :af:
|
To tire us fishermen. If it was'nt for bluefish, many would have given fishing in the 80's when there were few stripers around. :)

#$&^!@fish
Hey,
I think God did it to help us practice our knots, tie our leaders, replace some plugs AND then see if we will use his name in vain...... Incredible pain this fish can be until you hook up a tinker and feed it to a slob. Man, what a beautiful day.:) |
TUNA BAIT..................

couldn't have said it better clamma.

actually blues are second only to yellow fin tuna
in >speed and help feed the stripers which tend to be more opportunistic feeders...eating the leftovers the blues leave behind as they gorge themselves to the point that half chewed baitfish escape out thru their gills and/or the bait they side swiped and then missed are eaten by bass. blues are stupid hotrods yes but they "work" well for the more intelligent striped bass so they have a good role i think. I'm planning on always looking for blues feeding and then i'll try fishing on the bottom underneath them if i can...and hopefully hook up a large ;)

hmmm
too bad we can't racem then lol

God probably created blue fish so stripers and what ever other fish wouldn't be all we would catch and that we would have to give up a fight for once..

I fished today, but likely in a different Bay:), all cookie cutter 24-27 inch fish. Spent a lot of time trying to get used to some new electronics, but took enough casts to put 25 fish over the side. Received VHF transmissions, but not a single radio check was returned, so I must have a problem with the antenna maybe. GPS is a wonderful thing, no fog early, plugged in all my favorite ledges into the new machine and fog rolls in and I'm on the money on the return leg:).

All bass for me & the web master tonight
no @#$%^&^ Blues ,but that #$%^%$# n/e wind :D :D :D |
bass all last night/morning (sat night/sun morning)
then all of a sudden out of the blue  at about 8am bluefish invasion bastards.... GO HOME! ;) |
I believe the best sea-battle I've ever had came from a bloo (19+#s)...so I guess I'll always like them...as long as I have a short wire and my "hook-out"...I can hang with em'...the ones' out in the bay now suck!...12" scup give a better ride on light tackle...but it's almost impossible to dodge them...they've even invaded the rox :smash:
|
Im with bloo . if it tugs on my line and fights like hell then I fish for it and enjoy it . my largest blue 22#
sunnies on 2# line and an ultra lite is a whole lot of fun ! just ask my girls ! |
I should carry a scale...
Couple summers ago went to Quicks Hole and slammed into Blues... Couldn't keep bait in the water... macks... herring... plugs... just monster blue after blue Not a single small fish... left from running outa steam from reeling the bastards in... Not from lack of fish or bait ;) |
God made those blues to keep things in balance and I LOVE them like hell!!! They are more exciting to catch than Stripers. Stripers are slow... I love them, but what is more fun catching blues and getting them hit on your plugs like a batch of bullets in gravity movement in Matrix?

I never curse fish (well...maybe dogfish) ...when the blues were scarce a lot of guys were singing the blues. They are a great sport fish. They taste great when very fresh and prepared properly and are outstanding in a smoker. They make a great shark and tuna bait, and when then bass ain't biting...at least there is something pulling on the other end. I will agree though if you leave them in a hot cooler all day on no ice you will they don't taste quite as good and they don't freeze as well as other fish. Also when they are feeding its not the time to drift eels looking for a bass.
Besides, think your a good fisherman?....drop down to 2# or 4# test and hook in to 10-12# blue on a noodle rod :uhoh: you will change your mind about the blues. |
There on the South Shore pretty thick. There is nothing like a bluefish blitz on a summer night at the end of a breachway. No stress, everybody having fun, watching the new guys get hooked. Good memories for me.

If bluefish were striped bass, I'd be a lot richer.
I couldn't get deep enough to avoid them on Sunday. From Jamestown to Mt. Hope Bay. There everywhere, there everywhere |
