Facebook post: marlin caught at the canal

I'm sure some of you were at the ditch last night. Is this a joke? It's conceivable that a whitey got off track and ended up in close.

Cape Cod Tackle

I just watched a video on a customers cell phone of a guy catching a Marlin in the canal last night. I 'm not kidding I said a Marlin. Caught at the Murders row last night. I'll post pictures later when he sends them to me.

Very cool! Mike commented it was on a plug but I don't think they've specified what yet.

One of these days someone will catch a fish that isn't posted on #^&#^&#^&#^&book immediately.

Wow , what a lucky catch!

JackK 08-07-2013 11:16 AM

I'll believe it when I see video- Cloudy eyes make me wary.

No matter what it's a funny photo :uhuh:

Would you need a permit for that even if it was handed to you at shore?

If Mike said it was caught in the canal, it was caught in the canal. Some people can be taken at their word. Mike is one of them.

Depends who you are. I wouldn't need a permit. I would have taken a pic and let it go though. I wouldn't know what the hell to do with it anyway. Pretty cool catch!

You'd mount it.

Then you'd release it.

JackK 08-07-2013 12:32 PM

No doubt it's real- whether or not it was actually caught at the canal is my question. I trust Mike but I would like to see the video for myself.

Probably smart to keep incognito on it though- definitely illegal to keep...

BigFish 08-07-2013 12:41 PM

Word from Mike was a customer came in this am with cell phone in hand and video of the actual catch! Is that good enough for you????:uhuh:

Raven 08-07-2013 01:19 PM

The fish got tail wrapped on it's second run and despite attempts at resuscitation the fish died.

Any one find it odd of all the pic's posted where's the one with the angler and Fish
together? that would be the 1st photo I'd take any info on what it was hooked on lure or bait time of day or Night looking at the photo /

just looked Min size sailfish fork of tail to tip of bottom jaw.. 63 inches wouldn't think they would bust his chops for this accidental catch but ya never know

If you knew that it was illegal to keep, would you pose with it?

I probably wouldn't have even shown my bike in a picture.

BigFish 08-08-2013 07:03 AM

So what did he do with it?? It was dead when he landed it just about drowning from being pulled backwards??? Did he weigh it? Measure it?? Anyone know that end of the story?? Also could he be fined?? I hope not....the guy caught the fish and it died what was he supposed to do with it??

BigFish 08-08-2013 07:06 AM

I can see that spot mobbed this am with people and their Marlin/Sailfish gear hoping to hook up!! LOL!!

JohnR 08-08-2013 07:34 AM

THAT was cool.

So the Rooks don't need to go out and catch a 50 on their first time but now they can catch a freikin' marlin. WOW
