Canal Sailfish (Humor)
A buddy sent me a link to a fishing forum where they were talking about the sailfish caught in the canal. I read through quickly but came across this post. I won't list the guy's screen name and maybe some here know him or he may be on here too. He got some crap from members there for it...but I don't know whether the post was a joke or for real, its quite a read.
If true then ????????WTF???????? Here it is. What to you think? -------------------------------------------------------------- First of all there is Zero chance a fish like either of those would be caught in the canal. Put reality aside for a moment and lets say a fish like that was in the canal, a large majority of anglers stand zero chance a typical angler could ever land such a fish. A small percentage of us are elite, choosing to sacrifice in other areas of our live so as to never compromise on the field of battle with a fish, for example no matter how much my wife and little girls cried during the two heat waves I refused to let them turn the a/c on , so as to not run up the electric bill. I am still paying off the three different size ZB and Shimano reels I needed for this season, so, sorry babe , no a/c for you. Now an elite fisherMAN, a guy like me would clearly be able to land a sailfish in the canal or really anywhere with my equipment. A highly organized system, adaptable and moldable to any condition, from the 832 in 20 lb test to the knot and leader system, I as, some here, have thought it out way in advance and am ready for that once in a hundred lifetime hook-ups a sailfish would represent ( that is to say when another smaller inshore species is the target). Too many guys here fish old reels, with inferior braids . Braids that are two or three generations behind the NEWEST technology. And the lb test used is ridiculous....see some guys using 50 even 80 test braid because it fits on the reel the same way 17 lb mono would have ...lol , what a bunch of NON-commited GOOGANS ....frankly they make me SICK. I would guess there is maybe 1 percent of the guys I read who post here that could handle an unexpected hookup with a sail or marlin. |
I can't finish reading what this A hole is writing but I what I got was he's the best out there or any where and he puts himself before his own family....
Yup another internet zero who clearly puts himself first, must be a lot of love at their home. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
What a tool...A Legend in his own mind

I read that post on the original thread. I am 99.99% sure that was tongue in cheek. Sometimes sarcasm doesn't port well on the internet and he never came back to explain himself, but I'm pretty sure it was mocking the guys on that site that pretend like they are god's gift to fishing because of the gear they have and not because of the fish they catch. I think it was also a nod to the gear the guy who actually landed the fish was using.

There is a tool in every bag....he sounds like he might be the biggest!:smash:

Fluent in Sarcasm
As I am certified linguistic master in the language of sarcasm, in my professional opinion this post was written in the dry sarcasm dialect. Either that or a full fledged DB and multiple levels.
|
He was obviously being sarcastic. Because evryone in their right mind knows I am the only one that could have handled such a beast in the canal.
|
if his screen name is R-- D----- he wasn't being sarcastic and he usually runs in the PG circle on that site . .. done my best to say off that site it can be toxic
|
Well, at least now I know that I am a non committed googan..... This helps as I was struggling with where I fit in Larry's poll......:rotf2:

As we all know internet sarcasm must be followed by a :rotf2: or a :biglaugh: sometimes even a :yak5: , without any evidence of those I will stick to the guys a tool theory..:rotf2::biglaugh::)

I think I fish with him. There a lot of experts on my dock.

I don't know..... the thing about AC is beyond being sarcastic. I like Bigfish's reply !!!!!:jump1: |
Maybe this is some Joaquin Phoenix-esque act being pulled off here. There's no way a person of sound mind would ever say that stuff.i laughed while reading, so I have to believe this dude is screwing around, but then who knows... The internet's full of oddballs.

I'm pretty sure that was a joke/sarcasm. No one can be that self centered and arrogant.

He uses a screen name from the movie Slapshot, but he chose the wrong one. He's more like one of the Hanson twins. Or maybe Ogie. |

What a tool. A lot of BIG fish were caught before the invention of ZB, Van Staal, and braid (not by me of course, lol).

I can see disputing the house temp with the wife but how do you put your recreational budget before little kids? They're only little for a short time. Enjoy them while they're still cute and funny. Go back to being a fishing nut when they become zit covered teens and don't want you in their business anymore.
Divorce, Alimony and Child Support is a hell of a lot more expensive than 3 ZBs and Stella. What the hell would you need 3 z's for anyway? By some extra spools. Sounds like a great dad. :fury: |
He was kidding. He had to be. No one it THAT stupid!:fury:

whether serious or sarcastic...it was damn funny...he does begin with..."put reality aside for a moment"
