Martha's Vineyard early Oct
 

Had a surprise gifted my way- will be spending the first weekend of October on the Vineyard in Oak Bluffs.

Never fished out there- I've only been on the island once, and that was in less than ideal circumstances (IE, after my boat sank).

I definitely want to get some fishing in there- what's the scoop that time of year? I've read that Chappy has some fantastic fly fishing, but other than that I'm going in as a total goog.

You will be there right in the middle of the Derby! I will be there the weekend before you. Definitely will be some members over there the same time as you. Search out Derby threads and their website. Others will chime in. I am going for albies.

It's been at least a dozen years since I last fished the Derby, and both access and the fishing patterns have changed a lot in that time.

I didn't realize until I got a pm that it was derby time. Should be crowded- but hopefully will get into some albies.
