St. Petersburg, FL

I'm going to a wedding there in Oct 2014. Anyone familiar with the area? We are looking to rent a house on the water for the week for no more than 2000. Have looked at Clearwater and St. Pete's Beach.

Any advice/suggestions would be welcomed and appreciated. The area looks fishy!

oh, its fishy... i have caught king mackeral, redfish, grouper, snapper, permit and unfortunately no tarpon, but there is good tarpon fishing there. there are more guides in the Tampa Bay area than probably all of new england. I fished a multi species work fun tournament for several years organized by a guy named Capt. Dave Markett, out of Boca Grande Pass. I can't remember any of the specific guys I fished with by name, but they were all good, and Capt Dave was awesome. There is also tons of shorebound opportunity from the beaches, bridges & piers. Fishing is a way of life down there.
