finally have my spray booth venting into an unused chimney in the basement....no more fumes for me!!

oh God, I have no idea....I don't even know what the heck I'm doing. I'm hoping to get a duplicator for Christmas so I can get some consistency. Hell, I don't even know what styles I'm making, just getting a feel for the lathe. lol. The only thing I am sure of is my painting. lol

Be careful using rattle cans around electricity.

Hence the spray booth....lol. Yeah, I try to be careful, got a good filter on it to trap the bigger particles, and 2 50cf/m fans venting the rest out of there pretty quickly . I also run it for a few mins before and after spraying to keep the air moving. I also spray in small batches

get a tape/book on spindle turning and you will quickly be able to make any shape you want. Learning to use a skew helps, but is a bit intimidating at first (wear eye protection).

The electric motors in the fans can ignite the fumes at any time. It's best to use water based paint through an air brush. Not preaching simply advising. Good luck with it.

Yeah, I researched explosion proof fans before I made this....very expensive. The small amount of fumes, even if ignited, would at best produce a tiny puff. I'm not too worried, but do keep a fire extinguisher just to be on the safe side. But there really isn't too many other options when it comes to being in a basement and spraying with rattle cans. Even opening the windows doesn't work as well as this. The fumes when the windows were open were still bad and accumulated far worse than now.

Those look great, build styles that you fish, this way when all your friends are done stealing them from you, and you are left with very few plugs at least they are the style you fish.

Looks good, dude. Especially the bottle opener.

I wear a full face shield. Home Depot for under $40. I have had plug blanks explode on the lathe and shrapnel bounce off the face shield. Good investment.

yeah, I have to get one....just been using safety glasses. Good call though.
