Shimano Trinida 14A or N

Anyone ever used one in the surf? If so, did you like it? I am looking at them but they are in the $500 with tax. A bit pricy

I use the N on the boat and it's a beast and worth every penny. I don't think I would use it in the surf.

I use the Calcutta 700 TE.

I have 2,great drag and I prefer the levelwind.
I have been using them for years without fail on the boat and they are capable of handling large striped bass.

Great reels. I have a bunch I use from the boat but from the surf I use the tranx. It's internally the same as the Trinidad 14 but non lever drag and has level wind.

Just so you guys know. I am all set with boat reels. It's in the surf I am interested in. I have Abu 6500, 2 Calcutta 400s. I have tried the Saltist and didn't like it. I have a Century S2 11' that Saltheart built for me and I want to do it justice.
One of the guys here recommended the Penn Fathom. Think I may give it a shot.

My Trinidad doesn't have a lever drag. I wasn't aware they made them

I mentioned the TE because that's what I use in the ditch,cast-ability for different stuff eels, plugs and jigs is very good, also the drag is really smooth.
I can say it's my go to reel.

I never was a big Penn fan,JMHO thou.
