boat options
so I've been doing some boat research and looked at a few boats and i'm no closer to making a decision than I was in the beginning. i'd like to get some ideas from you guys on picking out a new rig. here are a few details - looking for a cc boat I can trailer in the 26' range. will be used both inshore and offshore. looking for something used - prob 03'-08' yr models. it would be nice to have something that can be powered by twin 150s or 175s 4 strokes. budget is 45ish. want something that is reasonable stable on the drift but can handle the slop when it's a little snotty

NY craigslist has a 26 regulator with low hours on twin 200 yamahas. seen the boat on the water and looks great. Was asking 37k but been for sale for a while.
|
I'd be looking at used regs and contenders. McKee crafts make a good boat in that range. Prob looking at a 02-04 with 4 strokes in that price range. Take a look at the sailfish 266 in the 2005 range. A lot of boat for the money.

How bout the 27 Polar I see some 2007/8 in that range on yachtworld. I am sure Jules can say whether they are happy with thiers, I think they are.

I'll find out the exact hours when I take the boat in to be winterized. |
I have a sailfish 220CC. More than welcome to come out for a spin.

beware of the exhaust corrosion issues on some of the older Yamaha 4 strokes. I think it was mostly motors before 05 and the 200 and 225 models.
|
You sure you wouldn't rather have a windshield and roof ?

I like the wind in my hair, the boat after this will be warm and dry

I fish on a 26 Sailfish every weekend, but it's a walkaround.
Powered by twin Yammi 4 strokes, those motors are flawless. The Sailfish copied the old Seacraft running surface, the boat rides very well. I would definately put it on my short list. |
Have you seen the one that is for sale in Humarock? I drove by this morning and was admiring the boat, I believe its a Sailfish. Looks to be in the 26ft range and has twin Yamaha's. Might be worth a quick drive, its right on the outside of the boat yard when you go over the Bridgewaye Inn Bridge on your left.

I took a look at it a couple of weeks ago and got some chowder at the bridgeway. boats in ok shape but way overpriced
