pin stripping
 

Have any of you guys done pin stripping with the new vinyl tapes.? I'm wondering how it would hold up to car washes and their wax. One guy told me to hit the edges with clear nail polish and it works pretty good.

When I worked at a dealership all we used for pinstripes was the vinyl tape. Layed it down and then hit it with a clear coat shaker can(thinly coated) Once it was applied and set hand rubbed it with #3 machine glaze to smooth out any bumples in the clear coat. Fast wax over the top all done

If you are doing a double line and wan them to meet at a point cut the clear center with a razor blade then lay the top line into the bottom line. Trim any exposed edges with a razor blade.

A roll is cheap enough and more than enough if you have to replace a panel or whole side of a car.
Also.
The thinner it is the less adhesive surface

Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate it. I didn't think of the clear coat.

It's fine just clean the surface as you should, and it will stick forever.
Stick about an inch on the front and then unroll the whole length of the car as you walkback. lay the entire side down in one fluid motion. Once it's strait then push it down good and gently trim the gaps. Nothing looks worse then crooked pinstripe
