the nfl tried to cover their asses when the coach was right, Jones was right (he was on the line of scrimmage)and the nfl rule was right until 2 hours after the game when they changed the wording, the refs were wrong and the nfl is trying to fix their botched mess that cost the Pats a divisional game.

I hope this does not go away.

there is the google cached page of the actual rule at the time 4:24 before the nfl changed the wording by removing the words " not on the line of scrimmage" after players. now it just says players

Apparently there's a new rule that you can't push a teammate on the line during a kick. This was the first time it's ever been called, in OT after a missed 57 yard FG attempt that essentially gave the Jets the game. Video shows nothing wrong...

Some are alleging the rules online were amended just after hence the post above.

You can argue all you want that the Pats shouldn't have been in OT to begin with, but the call and end of the game were just surreal.

Changing the wording of the rule is damning evidence IMO.

I think so many rules are too subjective now , especially the player protection rules. I believe the refs are being instructed to alter the flow of the games involving the big name teams on prime time and the subjective nature of these player protection rules is their tool to do it.

Hey, this is football damnit. No pushing!!!!

As a Jets fan who doesn't check in here much, I'm keeping my mouth shut.

But is OK for 4 guys pushing a running back into the end zone on 4th down.

What a whining bunch of loosers !
Ya it is/was a stupid rule.
So was the #^&#^&#^&#^&ing Tuck rule (which they got rid of)
Strap on a set and get over it.

seems Rex, coaches, told the refs to look for them to be doing this.

Raider Ronnie 10-21-2013 05:22 PM

Not cool

Maybe the Pats should sign this chick to a contract.
Looks like she takes a hit better than a lot of their players.

the whole thing STINKS!

how is it that this so specialized a rule
suddenly manifests itself at the precise moment for the first time ever
right after their field goal kicker happens to miss his target

the ODDS of this happening are like winning the power ball lottery.
"palms were greased big time...."

Well, I guess once again the lousy explanation of the rules by the NFL has cost the Pats once again.
Oh well, they didn't deserve to win anyway.
I guess that article was not an accurate version of the rule, so that is why they went online to the article 2 hours after the game to change that. Maybe they should do a better job calling the penalty during the game the first time it happens instead of at a game deciding moment:smash: This same push happened on both sides of the ball, both teams did it in the game earlier but it was not called, no consistency by the refs. That ref must have thought he was bigger than the game.
The game could have been over before overtime(Brady needs to play better) not whineing Ronnie, and this is nowhere close to the tuck rule, but yes I do remember that.
