Anyone familiar with this boat launch?

I am assuming there are proper navigation markers but what is preferred/quickest route into LI Sound and eventually Montauk (red path west or east)?

Thanks for any information.

the marked channel is the one that goes west. if you take the easterly route, you can't navigate over those sand flats at low tide between naps & sandy point, and even at high tide, you have to know the way, which i don't any more after Sandy.

The ramp is a very good ramp with three lanes. probably one of the best in southern new england. again, haven't been down there since last year's storm, so that may have changed too. the area got hit hard.

The "cut" between sandy point and napatree is pretty well marked with orange buoys but it is shallow in spots and narrow. If you aren't familiar with the area it will be just as quick to follow the channel markers out around the end of sandy point. From there it's a pretty straight shot out to montauk.

If you do take the cut be careful not to exit it too soon and try to take a short cut back to the launch. There are some very shallow areas between the cut and the launch.

Towing down to the launch can be fun with the one lane roads and the sharp turn onto the bridge.

Unfortunately didn't go this past Sunday due to marine forecast (high winds). Boat was dropped off today for winterization. Until next year my friends.
