No new regs until 2015
FWIW, the ASMFC voted today to adopt new regs effective 1/1/15. No idea yet what they will be, but until then the regs will stay the same.

Seems backwards. The vote to adopt them before they are proposed?

Still plenty of mature bass that need to be killed to get that all important, legally mandated, commercially sacred, maximum yield. After that there is plenty of time to figure out how to adjust the regs so the 2011 good year class can breed once then get killed up thoroughly as well.

got that right ... |
Pretty sure it's tied in with Obamacare.
Should be a seamless transition to another flawless government interaction in our lives. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |

Looks like, at a minimum, regs will go to one fish per day >28 inches.

I listened to the meeting yesterday via webcast. was surprised at the different positions taken by NY and NJ that seem out of touch with what is clearly the majority opinion voiced on here and SOL. the guy from NJ (tom Fote) was the most oppostional to any kinda change; just seemed strange since Jersey has stripers as a "gamefish"(?)_
Pat Augustine from NY was right behind. He repeatedly said that the stcoks are not being overfished- despite multiple instnces and figures indicating that they are.... the MOST IMPORTANT item that came out of this meeting was the acceptance of the new stock assessment figures that show the downward trend in bass numbers/recruitment. This is the data set to be used for future decison-making in the upcoming year- it would seem that more conservative catch limits are coming in 2015. its important that all of us stay informed and keep our states' ASMFC delegates infromed of what we want this fishery to be.... we've got little momentum here- lets not lose it. could be the first time in 15 years some meaningful change could come about |

I would love to see 1 bass greater than 28 inches.

Pretty sad that when an issue has varied interest. Instead of being proactive, we always wait until it manifests itself into a much bigger issue. Then we become reactionary, we'll never learn. So we create " boards ", when was the last time a board for anything had an Fn clue about the real world.
We can all distort data to support our interest. But I'll stick with what people out there all the time observe. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
