CT. River winter season
Does anyone fish the river during winter months for stripers? If so how far up river have you gone? I've had two people talk about MA. winter hold overs. I can't really go along with this but willing to learn.

without 'BURNING" any spots- there are other rivers that have more holdover action that the CT.....
|
Not the Ct. river. But, there are places with warm water outflows that hold bass. I was even snagging bunker in Feb. one year because a small school got holed up in the spot.

They can be caught from outside the mouth of the CT River all the way up to the Holyoke dam rear-round. One big difference in the CTR as opposed to the other more popular rivers across the state is the CT is more suited to boat fishing in the winter months. You can do ok from shore but you'll do much better by boat.

I, like Toby, love "rear round" fishing especially for strippers in the CT River Valley:jump1:

Just about every medium-large tidal river will hold over striped bass. Even some smaller systems will have a few.
