CT surfcasters speakers January 8, Toby and Jay Hanecak

The CT Surfcasters January meeting is Wednesday the 8th at 7 pm at the Town of Madison Old Town Hall- (not our usual Madison Surf Club meeting place).

Speakers will be our own members- Toby Lapinski and Jay Hanecak (JLH on the site) and the topic will be "Active Chunking in the Surf for Striped Bass". With Striped Bass populations seemingly decreasing in our areas, new and creative methods of surf fishing may be necessary. Toby and Jay have successfully used a different take on chunking --using I think wetsuits . No lawn chairs and six packs like me.

Toby is the editor of the New England edition of the Fisherman as you know and Jay has won several tournaments and won Angler of the Year in the Striper Cup shore division in 2012. Toby and Jay's team BadFish recently won the Go-Tight catch and release tournament.

I am sure that this meeting would be worth a trip. These guys are willing to give of their knowledge.

The meeting is at 7 PM at the Town of Madison Old Town Hall on the Green in Madison. There is no admission charge and you do not have to be a member. There also will be more info on our Demo Day at this meeting.

This is a great club - I highly encourage people to check it out if in your area. Plus having Toby & John talk fishing can't be bad

Well unfortunately I had to cancel at the last minute as the tie-rod on my truck broke about 1/2 mile from the meeting location and I spent the night waiting in the cold followed by a tow truck ride home. Will likely re-schedule to seminar for next month.

That sucks Toby, sorry to hear that. Glad I didn't decide to make the trek! Hoping one of these take place up my way one of these days.

Sorry to hear Toby. I was headed down myself until I saw a puddle under my Trailblaze. Had a power steering hose let go. At least I was in the driveway.
