USB to sata adapter
 

Anybody close to the east bay have one I can borrow? Desktop just blew up and I want to see if I can recover some files.

Never mind I think...the bad sound is the fan on the video card. Reseated the card and it booted.

I had similar problem with my video card fan, kept causing weird crashes. Got it all fixed now.

Yes, very strange behavior. It would just sit there with the fan spinning and not booting...no HD activity at all. Some times it would start the BIOS screen and others just black. Also couldn't shut it off without unplugging!

Seems to be working now but the fan is still screaming. It's an old machine anyway, might be time to just shoot it.

Just want my backup to finish :smash:
