When I download images from the web, they go in my documents as bitmap images in MSpaint. How can I avoid this? I can't post an image as bitmap and I can't get the image into a jpeg. Anyone?

Scotch, when I save the pics off the web,

1. I right click on the picture ,
2. then click save picture as
3. file name <your pictures name>
4. Save as type <JPEG(*.jpeg)>

hope this helps

Yeah, that used to work for me too. But now it seems I can only save as bitmap, it gives no other option. For instance, if I go to the "attaching pictures" thread in the main forum and right click on the pic of the book author it saves as a bitmap. I know its not bitmap cause you wouldn't be able attach to your post.

use paintshop pro scotch bonnet

you need to just download it free from www.jasc.com then you can RIGHT_click on a picture and open it using paintshop pro .

it has to be "saved as" a jpeg or gif not as a psp (paintshop pro) file
(its saving them to microsoft paint by default... )

dont forget to scroll up with the tiny black arrows to find the other file extensions.

How can I get my machine to stop using the default?
