So...Are You Ready???
So who is looking forward to doing some yak fishing this season? I know I am and I am hoping to get together with as many Yak Rats as possible this season! Its always a great time! Hope you folks are up for it? I know a few of us are more than ready!!!! I just dropped my yak on the trailer yesterday...got a little rigging to do for cameras and getting my freshwater gear ready first but as soon as we get a good day....I am going!
|
honestly can't wait to get out! Maybe I can get down to the south shore this spring...
|
Bought some camera mounts, install to come later. Right now the big blue thing is still on it's side , waiting.
|

I'm sort of ready. Got a new 2014 revolution that I added a few things too. Rigged up this lithium battery for the lowrance sonar and did some gear trac. Not sure how much fishing I plan on doing but I will certainly be exploring a lot.

can't wait to get out. unsure if i want to mount the go pro on my head or my yak. i kinda want it to see where i look but there are times i think a deck mount would be cool to.any input would be appreciated.
i yak south shore ma. quite a bit starting in the back rivers and work my way out front than back to the bays and rivers. . By far my favorite form of fishing. if anyone wants to get out in mt hope bay area let me know |
Jonserfish from experience I can tell you a head mount sucks for fishing! Very boring video and you will not see much and what you do see will be very bouncy to watch! Mount it on the yak facing you! Have you seen any of my yak videos?
|
yeah second what BigFish said, mount it facing towards you, it will make for a much better video - well that is if you want to look at yourself :D
really though it gives a better view of the hook up and the fish... |
I will have several cameras mounted this season in at least 3 maybe 4 locations! One facing me, one on the bow facing forward, one in the water for the underwater catch and underwater release....and maybe one behind me! Stay tuned!
|
^That's awesome! Can't wait to see the videos.
|
I've been fishing since ice out in late feb :)

Let me know when you want to go...I got some camping gear. :hihi:
|
Anyone know of a great yak spot where there is direct access to pull that yaks out and camp on the water AND have a camp fire?? Freshwater or salt I am good!
|
how far you willing to travel?
|
yeah TDF - didn't you do that with the scouts on Thatcher's? The boston harbor islands are another option...
I would be up for it.... |
Harbor islands do not allow open fires which....for me.....is a big part of camping. Any thoughts at all Kevin I am all ears?
|
yeah fires are prohibited on Thatcher's as well.. that sucks!
Maybe we can bring back the thousand islands idea? |
The no fires thing is a drag. Thatchers is nice too.....easy paddle out as well.
Let me work on it..... |
Love to get a group together for a trip....we tried last year but it never got off the ground? Who else might be interested?
|
Any interest in maybe winnipesaukee?

Definitely! Was considering Squam Lake actually as a friend has a place at Waterville Valley I can stay at but would rather do a camping trip!:uhuh: Love to go freshwater for sure!
