Last plugs of the year for me. I moved onto the honey do list this weekend

These are pine, I think its yellow pine. I have not worked with pine much for plug building and I was surprised I ran into a lot of trouble through drilling them. I think I misdrilled 4 out of 10 blanks.

Trying out a couple different weighting schemes so just made up 1 with each scheme in 3 of my favorite needle colors. Hopefully I will stick to the plan and fish needles more next year but my plan for the year always falls apart by about may 20'th...

really nice stuff.

Pine grain is a killer for drilling. A 3/16' bit may help if you use 5/32. Nice needles.

It is Probably Southern Yellow Pine which is awful stuff since the grain lines are so hard and the earlywood so soft.

Eastern White Pine and Sugar Pine are absolutely joys to use for plugs.

Very nice looking needles. Are they floaters?
