The Take
So what do you enjoy more the take or the fight?
|
The take! The ueber concentration, the bump and the run
|
Mixed bag for me...
Could be either. The fight can be great because you don't really know what to expect, The take can be awesome because of what led up to it, Easy question with many difficult answers. |

The take.....and the first 30 seconds.!!!
|
The answer lies somewhere between the two! ( At least when eeling.)
The few seconds between the initial "bump", the take , and finally the hook set are incredible and difficult to describe, since the anticipation of what will possibly come next is like a drug. |
Working a metal lip swimmer slowly....feeling the "thrum" through the line and the wiggle in the rod tip..........then the rod bows hard and you set the hook!!!! I love the take first and foremost!:uhuh:

Definitely the take , knowing I fooled you, now shake off the barbless hooks. After I see you of course.

My take on "the take" from a few years back:

The Fight....if it were the Take, I wouldn't be so pissed off when they throw the hook...

Thanks DZ

Absolutely the fight, and I'm speaking of slinging eels. The take snaps you out of la la land, but you never know what will happen after the hookset. Is it a rat, is it a dogfish, is it a supercow? Only the fight will tell. I caught my surf PB, a 43-pounder only 20 feet from the rock I was balancing on, and it barely tapped the eel. I wasn't impressed. The fish then proceeded to give me a whooping for the next few minutes. My heart was about to explode when the damned thing circled my rock five times, but when I got my hand in its mouth that was it. The fight!

Definitely the take since I get one of Paul's plugs.
The fight part is no big deal since I outweigh him and am meaner. |
Lobster or cracked crab, can't we have both?
|
Considering how bad my last few seasons were when I actually fished I became obsessed with "the prep".
-spence |
there's not much like the adrenaline shot of a rod doubling over and the drag screaming...
|
the take. I wanna see a swirl, and then an explosion on my plug. I wanna see the carnage unfold in front of me.
|
The take - especially when fishing eels or watching a bass explode on a surface metal lip.
|
which ever gives you the thrill, the RUSH....
many times it's the weight of the fish on the first PULL that tells you "LARGE" |
For me, it's the release.
You had the take. You had the fight. You had the glory. Now it's time for the send off. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |

Top water..... the take. Anything else, the fight especially with bigger fish. Nothing gets my adrenaline going more than when you feel that second treble break loose and you know she is hangin on by just a thread. Its at that moment when my concentration triples or I will lose her... and usually do lol.

I'll go with the take but ultimately my favorite part is being right about the spot and tide I want to fish.
|
I want it all ... I love the take ... have some phenomenal memories of "the take"of a wide variety of species ... whether it's a big bass on the plug, a giant tarpon inhaling a fly in crystal clear water, or anything else going bonkers ... the take is typically what is remembered most and most exciting ... although I have also had some phenomenal fights that leave amazing memories as well ... it's all good.
