I just sent one of mine to Bucko's in Fall River. I couldn't find anyone local

if you don't mind sending it to FL, jerry foran is your man, he is an abu guru. he's done 3 reels for me, excellent guy to work with.

I know you said you wanted to send it out.... but it's only a 1 beer job. Have to break my reels down also.

Agreed.

The work you mention is pretty basic, so perhaps a call to the several New England Tackle Shops... Saltwateredge, Weekapaug B&T, Snug Harbor and any others that are well known, will find an in house basic Abu reel service person. Don't know if Joe Mollica works on Abus at Snug Harbor...?

PM Stewie... he swears by the shop up on the North Shore.

Mike at Buckos does super work and stands behind it. I had a 7000 that the live lining clicker broke. Mike fixed it and it broke again the second time I set up on a decent fish. Called Mike and he fixed it and there was no charge and no questions.

I met Dave a couple times in Soco and seems like a nice guy. I cant say enough about Steve Cook, he got me out of a bind while heading to block. He actually met me near the ferry on a boat, i jumped down to a barge got the part i needed and spent a week not listening to my line roller screeching. :)

It is not that hard to do, but you do need some knowledge and confidence in breaking your reels down. You can probably google plenty of information on it, and maybe even look on youtube.

Heck, if I lived closer I would do it for you.

Just curious, why do you think you need an updated drag ? has the factory drag failed ? I only ask b/c I've upgraded a few of my abu drags also but at the end of the day, I just exert more thumb pressure on the spool if needed.

good luck

i youtubed and googled how to but I have a million other thing to get ready as well, like hooks & split rings, boat maint. I called Steve Cook and hes hooking me up.

Ive just heard good things about upgrading the drag on th ABU's. So i figured Id give it whirl.
