Tail Tag Pictures using 308 Wire
3 Attachment(s)
Here are some pics with tag on the tail. Please note that using this wire is a little more difficult, because the twist in the wire doesn't open as easily as a split ring does. But if necessary the 308 wire tag can be pried apart with a tiny screw driver and then compressed right back together using a pair of pliers.

Please note in the last pic how the tag has not been compressed back together with pliers and the first two pics were.

Sorry some of the pics are not clear.

Swimmer, thank you very much. I was not sure how it worked when you talked about people cutting the hook off when making these. I see the treble is mounted just before the end of the plug making the Tag an attached teaser. Using the #30 wire is the way to go. I'll be working on some today! Thanks for the pics. Jack

Just wire it on when you do the tail loop or use a split ring? Split ring won't hurt?

Just use your wire bender and bend a nose loop and cut it short. That is all I do and it is super fast and easy to bend open eye and close. Way simpler.

Cool, novel idea... would be really cool with tails you wanted to be interchangeable like twister tails on musky style plugs.
Like the other guys I use the cut offs from tail wraps. |
Hi Woody. Great way to use the extra wire cut offs. This has been my tail wire for a few years. Amazing how plug builder minds think. I'm cheap. Why waste hooks!

Agreed, i have been doing this for many years as well, and when you make them like split rings its easy to twist them off and on if you want to change them .
I just use round nose pliers to create my loops. |
