wanted: scrap oak railing post
 

i've just ripped up my carpet in my living room and having someone else refinish the hardwood underneath.

there were some oak railings put on after the carpet laydown, so there's about a 5/8" gap from the end of the post the the hardwood floor.

does anyone have a scrap oak post i can cut two 3.5" x 3.5", 5/8" thick blocks to slide in the gaps?

pic? Want to see the grain. You could also slide in some pine and finish with some 3/4 oak quarter round.
