Any Tuna yet?

Any reports? Its getting to be that time....the BI boys should be getting them anytime....

Rip Runner 07-01-2003 12:00 PM

The Tuna are in now, they are showing up at all the usually spots South of the Vineyard.

likwid 07-01-2003 12:46 PM

They're somewhere...

MakoMike 07-01-2003 02:44 PM

A few small bluefin are being taken, not many fish and not by many boats, at least in RI. No decent sized fish that I've heard of yet.

capesams 07-01-2003 04:48 PM

guy told me yesterday , they were 10 miles east of chatham lt. trolling squid rigs, no tuna but were haveing trouble with 35 # bass eating the rigs:rolleyes:

Mr. Sandman 07-02-2003 10:06 AM

This months front cover of OTW has me pumped...

There is nothing like the sound and feel of the initial run of a bluefin even a 50lber.....simply amazing fish.

Mr. Sandman 07-02-2003 01:14 PM

got a very solid report today...:)

devils fiddle 07-02-2003 05:45 PM

fished south of BI today and got a few decent fish. two in the mid 40 pound range and a 65, all bluefin. was down around the 750 line in 70 degree water. didn't see one boat all day. nice out there but a little foggy.

beachwalker 07-10-2003 03:43 PM

There are bigger ones, too.

Missed the latest trip. Friend who's a commercial was down south at the canyons and landed Yellows (60-100lbs), Blues up to 400 lbs and released a Blue Marlin estimated at 600lbs.

Yipee, their finally happening ! :D

likwid 07-10-2003 04:47 PM

the wannabe vw bugs are behind them too
600+

nightfighter 07-13-2003 03:51 PM

I know there's a big boy around Halibut point with 300 yds of 200# ande he ripped out of a Penn 80 in20 seconds yesterday!

likwid 07-13-2003 06:45 PM

This is an FYI article from today's Cape Times which is probably more for those of us less well versed in the art of Tuna Fishing. I'm one of the 89% who aint got nuttin yet. Nevertheless, an interesting read:

I had two separate pods blow up within a half mile of Minots today just before slack high. Boated one @ 60 lbs and missed good shots at bigger.

Big'un 07-16-2003 07:11 AM

Oh MAN! Had them same area a week ago, but couldn't hook-up!! I'm totally new to this game but I'm so pumped up. What Flies did you use?, Gear? WHAT!!

Van 07-16-2003 03:05 PM

First I've heard they are getting close to my area.
Great news.
going out tomorrow I'll be on the lookout....

Big'un 07-17-2003 07:36 AM

Went out after work yesterday with my Dad and a guy he's friends with who knows lots about fishingb tuna. Didn't find anything till just before sundown. Then they were all over the boat. I mean thick. But only for a second. Got two shots off with a 7" bunker fly, but they ignored it. Dad's buddy had a hit on a Creak Chub popper (Green). Fish took like 200 yards of line off the Penn 5500 in seconds, then he was off. Man it got my blood flowing!!! We couldn't have been more then 1/2 mile off Scituate Harbor!!!

Bleedem Quick 07-17-2003 10:50 PM

Not my fault. There was a picket line of boats on the line betweem Minot's and Pt. Allerton, but it wasn't guys who read the internet. I know half those Cohasset boats and most of em don't read.

I only saw one pod blow up today and that was a mile away from me. Didn't hear much on radio chatter, but a guy at hte dock said two boats had fish. Word is definitel y out.

Bigcat 07-18-2003 04:37 AM

Let the games begin:D

Fish On 07-24-2003 12:08 PM

DF,
By 750 line do you mean 125 fathoms? I think that's a bit far out for me, but hoe far weould you say it is in miles from BI to where you are referring to?

Any recent updates on the tuna? I hear they are very strong now east of Chatum. Any reports from Cox, Dump, Finders, etc?

Mr. Sandman 07-24-2003 12:19 PM

fishsmith 07-24-2003 12:22 PM

If a report says no fish, the place must be loaded with fish. :D

beachwalker 07-24-2003 03:19 PM

I think Larry's needs to do a little homework before they start making statements like that. Call a few restaurants over here boys. The red meat that is prepared seared is most certainly not angus !

:)

Mr. Sandman 07-24-2003 03:22 PM

Probably some cheap Beefalo ! :laughs:

beachwalker 07-24-2003 03:27 PM

Or frozen from last year......

NOT :smash: :smash: :smash: :laughs: :laughs:

kippy 07-27-2003 07:57 AM

If anyone has an extra spot for tuna, pm me. I am always interested in chasing those missles. :D

Tony
