"Some kids are hooked on Phonics, My dog's on TriTronics.". Seriosly though its a great brand but I have a dog I trained for AKC and HRC hunt tests. I started with Sport Dog and they were fine nice small transmitter. Remember a small nick should be enough once you have it trained correctly and in fact I hardly ever need to use it (collar conditioning). I highly suggest you train with hand signals that way you won't have to worry about using the collar which in my mind is not really something to get attention if you were serious about the hearing thing (think you were joking though). I also think there are ones that vibrate which might be your best bet if that is what you are looking for and it truly is a hearing thing. I have had good luck with Gun Dog Supply, but Cabelas, Bass Pro and probably amazon are all options. If you need help with the avoidance training let me know, there is a lot to it, but you should appreciate the basics. Overall it is very effective and is NOT all about zapping for incorrect behavior. You train them by teaching them to turn off the stimulous. Feel free to PM me with ?s happy to help out.

thats one way

another way is to have a good coil of say lobster pot rope in your left hand
thats 10 to 15 feet long

you always walk the dog on your left
you never say a thing (body language says it ALL)
you go to a very large open flat and EMPTY training field

you walk along always keeping an eye on the dog
to see when they are distracted by scent, sight or anything else

and the exact moment they TAKE Their eyes off of you
(from looking for the body language)

you drop the coil of rope keeping the end of it wrapped firmly
around your right hand and then take an immediate turn of 90 degree's
and march like a tank without ever looking back at a fast pace

what this does is....
it MAKES the dog always watch your lead
without you having to constantly quip> let's go! heal! come on ! ect.

the reason it works on any dog is
they soon figure out.. that EVERYTIME i take my eyes off that guy
(mf'r) i get my head yanked ....

they quickly learn to stay at the side of your left leg
and will never take their eyes off of you>>> EVER

thats funny it came in a discreet box

Walking isn't the issue its recall in the yard and I am looking for something to fill the gap until we get an electric fence.

i'll betcha they still opened it
and then re sealed it with tape

i have purchased dog training collars
and they don't really work ....

there are two probes that have to be in constant contact
with the dogs skin to deliver the ZAP of deterrent or stop

it would be smarter to use a chain link backed up with a
cow and or horse Zapper that cycles every few minutes

I once opened the cow gate for a farm dog that wanted >>> OUT
of the cow pasture but he KNEW about the zapper all to well....
from previous experience....

and even though i pulled the flexible fence completely out of the way
and he now had a 15 foot wide opening .... to walk thru

he carefully edged up to the fence line and leaped very high
up and over the fence that was no longer there to avoid
being zapped again... as in his mind it was still there but invisible.
