Montauk Lodging Recommendations
Montauk is on my Bucket List.
I am going to fish it at the end of this month! :-). Reality set in and I realized I have all the gear, clothes, food, and a truck to carry it all. BUT! I have not place to sleep!!! Any lodging recommendations? Thank you in advance for your much appreciated help! |
Are you looking for a swanky place like your wife/girlfriend might enjoy or just a place to crash?
|
Montauk
It's price point and availability, my brother lives out there so grab me at the next meeting. One recommendations I can make is The Montauket for a beer at sunset, up the hill by the railroad. Be prepared for shoulder to shoulder fishing if there's fish, it's crazy.

even if there are 70's rolling in the wash there wont be a crowd in spring. In fact if you see more than 6 people, that might be a crowd..fall is different story. As far as the place to stay, most of them are ok, nothing better than that. I stayed in many of them with my wife and kids from Daunt's Albatros to Beachcomber to Ocean View. Would not go back to any for mostly personal reasons. I think most of them are just fine for a fishing. I usually sleep in my truck

MakoMike, I am going down solo on this one. A place to sleep is fine for me. ;-)

Phreddy, thank you for the beer recommendation!
I am found of a good ale/beer. ;-) |
Zeno, thank you for the tips!

There's also Heather Hills campground
|
Justfishin', cool! That's a thought. I have not been camping in a while. The website says there are showers. Humm.....
|
You might want to try the harborside or the Culloden.. They are both clean and the cheapest in town. Good Luck!
|
Hither Hills campground usually gets booked up by this time of year, plus I think you have to be a NY resident (but I'm not sure about that). For just a place to crash, check the Montauk Chamber of commerce's website. Bill's recommendations are good you might also want to try the Sail Inn.

Thanks guys!
The major online travel sights were pretty much useless for finding a place on Montauk! Your valued feedback helped me find a place at a reasonable rate! I went with Harborside Resort Motel. Next time I will have more time to plan and I will look into the camping option. That could be a lot of fun! ;-). S-B rocks! |
As for the beers, just keep in mind that Montauk is a "drinking town with a fishing problem" :tooth:.

I have stayed at the Harborside a few times and for the price it is a good deal. They usually require a deposit on the room. The Cross Eyed Clam right up the road has good burgers and pints. There is also Manucci's right by but it is a little more dress up.

I took a ride out a few weeks ago with the wife and little guy. It was a last minute thing so we had no reservations but wanted to stay somewhere with an indoor pool so he could swim a little. After checking several hotels that were sold out we were directed to the yacht club where they had an indoor pool and were willing to give us a nice room with a balcony and water view for $150. The manager was very nice. Good luck.
