When Will They Learn
The Texas far right GOP and the countries far right GOP apparently will never learn that they must come into the present and future and accept the Gay community for how they R....Texas republicans have endorsed,"reparative therapy for gays."...they want gays to go through psychological treatments to turn gay people straight...that will not happen....they had better start accepting gays and women's rights in order to win...the Texas GOP were given the final approval at its annual convention.

The problem is when you take away the obvious social issues republicans don't look that much different from moderate democrats. Can't fund-raise on that...

2012 REPUBLICAN PARTY OF TEXAS Report of Platform Committee 1. Strict adherence to the original intent of the Declaration of Independence and U.S. and Texas Constitutions. 2. 3. Preserving American and Texas Sovereignty and Freedom. 4. Limiting government power to those items enumerated in the U.S. and Texas Constitutions. 5. Personal Accountability and Responsibility. 6. Self-sufficient families 7. Having an educated population, with parents having the freedom of choice for the education of their children. 8. Americans having the right to be safe in their homes, on their streets, and in their communities, and the unalienable right to defend themselves. 9. A free enterprise society unencumbered by government interference or subsidies. 10. Honoring all of those that serve and protect our freedom. 11. Limited Federal Powers –We strongly support state sovereignty reserved under the Tenth Amendment and oppose mandates beyond the scope of federal authority, as defined in the U.S. Constitution. We further support abolition of federal agencies involved in activities not originally delegated to the federal government under a strict interpretation of the U.S. Constitution. Border Security – The U.S. Border must be secured immediately! Affirmative Action - Inasmuch as the Civil Rights Movement argued against using race as a factor in American life, affirmative action reintroduces race as a divisive force in American life. The Republican Party of Texas believes in equal opportunity for all citizens without regard to race or gender. To that end, we oppose affirmative action Government Takings and Restrictions - We reaffirm our belief in the constitutional concept of the right to own property without governmental interference, and that property ownership and free market enterprise forms the foundation of our collective wealth. NO government entity should abridge or deny these rights. Protection from Extreme Environmentalists – We strongly oppose all efforts of the extreme environmental groups that stymie legitimate business interests Driver Licenses - We propose that every Texas driver license shall indicate whether the driver is a U.S. citizen. No such license shall be issued to anyone not legally in the country. Judicial Restraint - We urge Congress to adopt the Constitutional Restoration Act and support the principle of judicial restraint, which requires judges to interpret and apply rather than make the law. Unions - We support legislation requiring labor unions to obtain consent of the union member before that member’s dues can be used for political purposes. We strongly oppose card check. Felon Voting - We affirm the Constitutional authority of state legislatures to regulate voting, including disenfranchisement of convicted felons. Right to Keep and Bear Arms – America’s founding fathers wrote the 2nd amendment with clear intent – no level of government shall regulate either the ownership or possession of firearms. it's pretty lengthy, http://www.texasgop.org/wp-content/t...form_Final.pdf |

Rudy seems to think this is pretty small number of people involved in this..I'd also mention that while I don't know what to make of many of these things, if you read the language, there's no suggestion of what you state..."they want gays to go through psychological treatments to turn gay people straight"...it read voluntary treatments and endorsed the legitimacy of the treatments, there's no mention of forcing gays to get treatment of any kind, I think was some response to the banning of the treatments elsewhere by Chris Christie I think... while I don't know much about the treatments and don't really care I do wonder why, if someone is hetro and wants to be homo...that's ok..and if someone is bi and wants a guy sometimes and a girl other times and maybe even both, that's ok, and if someone is a guy and wants to be a girl, or the other way around and undergoes "reparative surgery and treatments"..that's ok....but if someone is homo and wants to be hetero...well....that's just terrible?...unacceptable..can't happen..confusing isn't it?...isn't it the individual's choice? |
