Gun Control
MEANS USING BOTH HANDS!
|
blanks don't kill people
so when you gonna let a kid try an oozie either have it mounted so there's no recoil or load it with blanks .... or no kid try's auto pistols 2 citizens dead from not doing it more safely hopefully there won't be a number 3 |
I sure they had the people sign a "waiver" that supposedly makes the gun shop blameless in the event of an accident.
They should add a claim that says if gun shop is willing to let a child fire ANY high power firearm, that shop assumes ALL RESPONSIBILTY in the event of an accident. Then see how many shops will change thier policies? I love the idea of loading ANY firearm given to a child (>18) with blanks. |

Curious how we all feel about strapping skis on a kid and sending them down a hill or putting them on a small motor cycle or even having them ride a bike for that matter ? The media tends to sensationalize accidents when they happen with a firearm. It's an agenda Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |

There is a big difference between teaching a kids to ski and ride a bike than helping a 9y/o shoot an automatic weapon. |

A kid on skis or a bike may collide with someone or something else, and it isn't usually fatal, but a kid with an automatic weapon with live rounds that has an "accident" has a exponentially greater chance of a fatality. |

As a sportsman if you equate the three, I'm a bit surprised. All have risk. I don't know of a ski instructor killed during a kids ski lesson. |
I wonder how old Slips niece was when she started shooting.
Her skills are taking her places most teens would only dream about. |
There's a big difference between learning early and learning the wrong things early.

But (and I am not a shooter) what I read after the incident, was they are learning prone (table), single shot rifle first, not an Uzi.... Things can be done right and then things can be stupid. Sadly this stupid intersected w/ an automatic weapon... |
Let's not allow one bad apple to spoil the entire basket.
A clear perspective realizes the inherent danger with weapons of any sort. But the soapbox awaits for opportunists to take advantage of mishaps. Send the kids to football or karate and roll the dice there instead Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |

Raven,
A blank 'point blank' to the temple will kill people too, esp a kid, geez. |
Beamie
the suggestion for using blanks
was to see if a kid could control the recoil of a single shot. if they could not control it then they have no business firing the weapon in full Auto with live ammo... was my point.... Geesch frank, i'm surprised that your Still Facebooking :hs: |
Blanks are #^&#^&#^&#^&ing terrible... they make firearms filthy! And at times do more harm than good. Ask Bruce lee's kid how safe blanks are... Fools and their foolish suggestions of blanks...
The "issues" that have arisen with younger or lighter weight shooters of fully automatic weapons is muzzle climb and nothing more. Sadly, they are'nt being supported in the proper form as to deter muzzle climb and thus the accidents. If you've never shot full auto, you havent experienced muzzle climb. I will now attempt to translate muzzle climb into kale salad yuppie: Remember when you learned to drive mommys 5 speed vehicle, and it would buck like crazy when you shifted/clutched in poorly? As long as your foot was on that clutch the vehicle kept buck'ing because you kept clutching in (inadvertently) Your whole body was getting jerked back and forth in that seat but you could not pull your foot off the clutch. But as soon as you were able to pull your foot away from that clutch the buck'ing stopped... booger hook = clutch, trapped movement is the barrel rising, stopping= empty magazine The firearm just sort of runs away on them, until its empty or they can control the climb of the barrel. The training issues are coming from a stand point of moving too quickly. YEAHHH full auto lets dump a whole magazine... NO You load various magazine: 3 rounds, 3 rounds, 5 rounds, 5 rounds load, make safe, make hot, clear range, hot, shoot single then auto 2 remove mag, make weapon safe repeat basically work your way up to a full 20,30,100round beta mag All the while being safe, and learning to control that weapon as it begins to get rockin' n rollin' unfortunately these kids are being handed a full mag and told to let er rip and they havent developed the control to dump full magazines. |

When you try to rationalize the why's of a tragedy your willing to come up with virtually ANY "idea" to prevent further disaster. Personally, i was trained about gun safety by a man who blew his own leg off climbing over a barbed wire fence and have never forgot his words of wisdom. |
