Stairs with winders
Doing some more finish stairs, this one has two landings with winders. Had to correct some of the framing errors before starting. It will look like a stairway I did recently that is a mirror image.

Bob, that report was for tomorrow, togfest is next weekend, Niko did a wind dance so the day should be great
Nice work man |
Back to working on the stairway, now that all the kitchen and bath cabinetry has been installed.
Electricians didn't like it when I told them they couldn't use the stairs while I was working on them. It's a difficult enough job without constant traffic of subcontractors going up and down all day. It takes a lot of focus and concentration, distractions can lead to costly mistakes |
ready for paint and varnish

Really nice work. I'm assuming you biscuit and glue the handrail joins? What do you use for adhesive? Do you also put a screw in the joint somewhere?

Live2fish...the rail and fittings are joined with a rail bolt. Its hidden and very strong and glued with carpenter glue. With oak its a good idea to "prime" or force glue into the end grain which is very porous then apply more glur Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
good luck to the painter on that. Looks nice though.

After the controlled chaos and all the dust and debris they look pretty good all cleaned up. All finished with this house.....on to the next.

Kitchen came out nice too.

Another one done .... onto the next. Gonna be a very busy year for us.
Six more house foundations going in soon, now that the weather has improved. That last pic is what happens when you get a gust over 35 mph. |
