Computer Disposal

Got a few old junk laptops to get rid of.
Guess you can just throw them in the trash barrel
Whats the proper way of disposal and how concerned should I be if they get in the wrong hands

Pull the hard drives out and run a drill through them. Our town has a free electronics recycling bin at the transfer station. Yours likely has something similar.

Spence is right about removing the hard drives, you can run a magnet over the hard drive first,i wouldn't use a drill untill some kind of scrub was done, as data on the platters is still there.

Let me know if i can help RR i have some decent software that will scrub, but remember with reg HD there is always a chance the data can be recovered.

I figure nobody would bother trying to recover off a damaged disk. It's personal info, not state secrets.
