Smoothie Drag Washers & Greased Drag Washers

Just picked up a supply of back-up drag washers for the 7500SS and 8500SS reels. Bought mostly the standard fabric/waffle texture discs, but also picked up a set of smoothies. Was under the impression that the smoothies were "smoother", especially on the initial pull, and during a long pull. However, have heard from a local Penn repair shop that the smoothies may be smoother initially, but wear out faster, and are not appropriate for long runs. He also checked into greasing the standard washers and recommends going that way for tuna.

Who has had experience with the smoothies? What are your thoughts on performance and wear? What are your thoughts on suitablility for tuna?

Any experience out there with greasing the drag washers?

Have used exrtreme smooties but not used on Tuna but I do like 'em for bass. They are dry - no grease...

Stock Penn HT100 drags are fine, why switch to smooties? Not questioning it but just have not heard anyone ask before...
