Macs at night with a light
Will it work,,, does with calamari if I remember right
|
Rarely with macs but herring love the lights. If you get a good plankton school started the macs will come. But it's not often.
I have a 400w metal halide deck light and a 150w metal halide underwater light for reference Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
Guppy....although it's a lot different than sitting out in the bay at night, but I've caught mackerel during the strangest hours....1, 2, 3 o'clock in the morning. Like the freak mentioned, it's all about the bait being there. The macks I was catching were feeding on silversides under some lit up docks. They'd come in waves,...
Perhaps if the lights were shining on your tackle, you'd stand a chance? I didn't even think you could catch them at that hour, never mind at night, a Vietnam Vet turned me on to it....God rest his soul. Learned a lot of strange ways from him....R.I.P. Johnny boy |

Gup, I get my macs by trolling known areas 90% of the time. If that doesn't work, I will jig for them. Once I mark, I chum with a small can of cat food to bring them in and keep them there. Usually have half a dozen cans onboard. Can get 3 for a dollar when on sale.... Cheaper than chum and cans are easier to store.

Guppy that looks great if you actually want to sell it ill offer 20 bucks
