FSC Marauder 1327
Anyone fishing this rod? Does it throw its weight range, 1-5oz? Interested to hear your thoughts on it. I'm looking at it because I like to fish anything from an SP minnow to a SS darter to lobbing out a 9" shad. Would also be used to throw decent size eels and rigged eels.
My 10ft Lami SSU covers all those bases. Just wondering if this rod will as well. Also eyeing the Predator 1267 as it's rated 2-6. Thanks in advance |
all I can say is that everyone that owns a fsc loves them. No complaints at all.

I know the heavier 1329 throws SP's to 5+oz. Remarkable range. I wouldn't believe it but I built this blank and tested GRS to SP's. The 1327 should be what you want. Great USA products

I've also heard nothing but good things but would prefer one peice. Blanks are reasonably priced as well.

actually thicker than the 1329...even though the ratings would suggest the opposite....especially considering these blanks are in the same family. It lists the difference in the spec sheets....I think it is a whole size smaller. I have and use the 1329 interchangeably in nearly all conditions that I use my cts VT 3-6 oz. The only difference is that the rod is much more versatile....especially at the heavier end. I am not a distance nor a technical caster. It casts sp minnows through 4 oz GRS plugs. I have also thrown 6 oz bucktails and bunker halves. its a weird blank. It is the rod that I reach for when I want to throw..... 2 oz and up, but also works fine with sp minnows and 1.5 oz bucktails. Lately I prefer the 1329 to my CTS, and have been using it more. Although it does not throw the lighter stuff as well as my VT, I like how the heavier stuff loads the rod. If I were to bucktail 3/4 oz - 1.5 oz ....I would probably lean to my Vt...or the 1327. I casted the 1327 once and really liked it better than my VT. It both seemed to have easier loading and good feedback for the lighter stuff and seemed to be easier to work heavier pencils. If I didn't already have a rod with the specs of the 1327 I would own one for sure. I have not been scientific in my testing to see if I am loosing casting distance with the 1329 over the VT. It doesn't seem like I am, so I have not felt the need to check. |
Puppet- thank you for your thorough and insightful response, it gives me some things to think about. I throw 1oz bucktails a lot, but I also like to throw big dannies and magic swimmer knock offs. In your opinion, will the 1327 cast 4oz well? This rod will be primarily used off the rocks in RI and the canal.
Again, thanks for the all the replies. |
I only did some test casting with the 1327. The biggest lure I threw was a 3 oz pencil which loaded without effort. If I would guess...I would think 4 oz would not be a problem.
Hopefully someone who has fished one of these rods for a season can chime in. It would be best to test drive one for yourself...as what I find acceptable/desireable might not be up your alley. I can say that if I were to roach out my cts...I would replace it with a 1327 without even thinking twice. As much as I like the vaportrail...there is something I really liked about fsc maurader rods. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |

Thank you all so much for taking the time to respond to this thread. I ended up pulling the trigger on a 1327 thanks to Joebaggs, my fellow countryman. Made me an offer I couldn't resist...
This rod is an absolute joy to throw. Super sensitive yet powerful. Like others have said, will launch anything from an SP to a 3.5oz pencil. Works a darter like a dream. And it's an absolute beast of a rod. So far so good! |
Looking good Rob

Love mine! I've thrown up to 4oz with no problems.

Thanks, Chris. |
I've been fishing the 1327 Maurader MTK. Very happy with it so far. I haven't spent an extended time throwing heavy stuff, but it handles GRS pikies just fine.

Good to know. Thanks.
I lobbed out a 9" shad off the rocks last night just to see how it felt. That was doable, but I wouldn't recommend it. I can't say enough about how this rod works a darter. |
