Mung Reports From The Backside?
I need to know if the beaches from Eastham to P-Town are fishable. Headed down this afternoon for a night of ch#^^^^^&g eels and I need to know if the south-south east winds have fouled it up down there. Glassguy, Redlite, any of you guys down there last night? Please inform. :bc:

BigFish.
Not sure. Will give a call to some of my contacts later on today. Sunday and Monday when it was gale force south winds, it was munged up unfishable like I have never seen in my life. Usually if one beach is munged, you can move around and find at least some clean water. Well, Slingah and I checked every beach from The Head to Marconi and every single one was unfishable. Not just a little weed, but handfuls as soon as your line hit the water. even out on the sand bars. I was out on Race Point and it was munged all the way from Hatch's Harbor to Marconi. Incredible, especially since it has blown South west for about 3 weeks now. When we were out there in the boat last week, from Newcomb to about the Mission Bell was munged up so much from 10 feet of water out beyond the pot line in 60 + feet that it was cloging the live well. I'll give you an update as soon as I know. |
Thanks Redlite. Talked to Slingah this morning. He said the same. I am just hoping that it has miraculously cleared but the wind has not shifted yet. Could take a couple days after the wind changes direction to clear it up. Thanks again.:smash:

Been too busy working; have not been out for a week. Maybe see you tonight, if I can get caught up.
Was able to rake up some sand eels last week. PM me if you want the location. Best of luck- Bob |
Just talked to a contact and he said that it is still pretty munged up. Wind kicked up last night and made it too tough to pitch eels.
Drop tide has a better chance of finding clean water. there are a lot of small annoyiong blues around down there that just love to chomp eels. Good luck. |
eel choppers are prevalent
the mung wasn't too bad at coast guard, was surfing not fishing though so wasn't really paying much mind to the junk |

not bad... tryin to get rid of my short board (bah... nobody buyin) but broke it out for the past 2 good swells we got hooked up with...
*shrug* couple sets of head high yesterday at CG... but its july... i take what i can get :D i work on the slopes during the summer so technically i have no need for a short board anymore just my shane 10 footer for summer these days :) this summer has been wacky... been quite a few years since we've actually had big wave days during july... |
RedLite...thanks for the info, unfortunately I left for the Cape just before you sent your last post. It was miserable down there. Thanks just the same, hope to see you out fishing again soon. Maybe you and Slingah and myself and my buddy Joe can get together and fish some nite? Talk to you later.:thanks:

Based on my 20 years of surfing the cape we only seem to get one good swell in July for the most part. Anything more than that is a bonus. Yeah sure ya get some weak waist to chest days but...
I have sold a couple of short boards through the boarding house in Hyannis. Their deal is you get 100% of the sale but it must be spent in their shop. So if you are looking to trade the board up for a newer funboard or longboard it works out ok. Shortboards for 200.00 seem to sell well in their shop since new ones are up to five bills. Is that a shane 2SI board? Heard they are pretty good. Never saw one in person. |
yep its a 2si longboard... LOVE it to death... he's definitely becoming the premier east coast shaper rapidly...
unforunately i have a ton and a half of surf gear/etc. around here so i have no need to spend it on more surf gear... just been looking at selling it for cash for around 2 bills *shrug* that and i'd spend it in a shop but nobody around here carries SurfRX boards... oh well around fall the email lists will start picking up with people looking for shortboards etc. |
