Magic Swimmer in the surf?

I know some people do well on the magic swimmer or knock offs in the surf, but I have a hard time keeping it down. I'm usually throwing it in moving water or where there is a hard sweep. I have no trouble keeping it down in the ditch even when the tide is ripping, but for some reason I can't make it dig anywhere else, even with similar conditions.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to fish it in the surf? I'm thinking a slower retrieve might be the ticket when there's some wave action.

Thanks in advance.

In the surf I use the fast sinking version.

Like you said they don't tend to stay down that well in the surf, especially if the surf is decent.

Thanks, I'm glad someone else has had the same experiences as me. I have the knock offs and I would say they sink at a moderate rate. I might try to find some cheap Sebiles that have a fast sink rate as I know some people on here had pretty good success with them this year. Given all the big bait that's around, I have a hard time not throwing them...

I agree with above fast sink
May be your ticket.

Iv done great on the 4oz floating and the 3 Oz fast sinking the last few years I think it depends on the current more then anything bc iv done better with the 4oz slow sink in most places but if the current is cranking I go with the fast sink .carry both and fish both it will come together for you

Thanks, shadow. If you don't mind me asking, what type of retrieve are you using with the 4 oz slow sink?

Very it slow with an occasional rip does good ....burning it can draw a strike at times as well....but the slow retrieve works just fine.
