Need HVAC help
I need to replace my oil tank. Before that happens, I need to remove one of those old tank (cast iron) furnaces.
If anyone is interested in removing the furnace please PM me I'm located in central CT. Middletown area. Thanks, Matt |
The old boiler iron scrap. Maybe see if a scrapper will take. Putting in a new tank?

Those are more then just heavy....the copper piping is worth more then the boiler at a scrap yard ....there so heavy and hard to move that my boss ussauly has to pay someone to take them to the scrap yard when we re place a burner most of the time it's the guy that's doing the new boilers responsibility to take to old one

Or if you ordered one the dealer dropping it off will take the old one if you load it

Cast Iron price is way down in I think it's only 125. Per ton,I would guess your unit (residential ) is about 750#.
The best or only way to remove it would be to brake apart in sections. Copper is hovering around 2 per#. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
Thanks guys. I want to just smash it but I'm pretty sure I just need to bite the bullet and call a hazmat co. I'm pretty sure it is lined with what likely has asbestos in it. I should have demanded it leave when I bought the house but we were short on time when we bought. Maybe I have some recourse with home inspection but I doubt it.
