New toy
1 Attachment(s)
Well got the duplicator mounted on the lathe. I mounted it on the rear so I can still turn without removing it. This thing cuts fast, will remove up to 1/2" of material at a pass.

Still have to fine tune it as far as left to right to minimize waste.

boooooing:D

Dave good idea on the mounting. I think I will try that. You made any templates yet? I used plexi or Lexan from HD.
|
I'm gonna try the templates this week.
|
I don't understand how you can mount that on the backside unless the lathe motor is reversible.

Turn cutter upside down
|
I mounted the cutter just below center and turned it upside down. Works awesome this way and doesn't have to be removed to turn something by hand.
|
Trying to figure your duplicator out. Does the cutter move in and out or does the entire unit move? What is the max Dia. that can be copied? P.S. Great idea on the mounting.
|
The cutter moves in and out with a spring tensioner. It will duplicate from an original turning up to 2" in diameter.

cut a plug in half to get the profile for the lexan.I have a friend who cut a wooden atom 40 in half to copie it.
