All Star Ben Doer SS86M2 ??
Long shot, but does anyone one have an All Star Ben Doer SS86M2 (8'-6" spinning rod, rated for 1 1/4 oz lures), or even just the top half that they'd be willing to sell or trade? Hasn't been made in years. Its a nice blank but was a terribly made factory rod, IMO. I redid the reel seat and grips on mine this winter and then broke the tip this spring.
Thanks. Josh |

I had one. It lives at the bottom of the Race Point rip with a vs150.
I hit the man overboard button when it happened. I jig that spot every year. Never got it back. It was my favorite striper rod until I switched to the RH Custom BS704. Good luck dude. You should set up a search on Ebay. It was definately a St. Croix. I bought it in the classifieds here...I don't remember who sold it to me. Rick |

The St Croix you are confusing it with is the Ben Doerr Surf System SS80M. I have rewrapped mine a couple of times. Favorite rod for schoolies. It was a one piece. Josh has the All Star two piece.

thanks to Ross I think I was able to find one. If anyone else has one that they're willing to part with let me know in case that falls through.

If push comes to shove,I think that the Fiberstar Composite rods supposedly have tapers/actions that are pretty similar to the All Stars (although I have no experience with Allstars to judge). The owner of the company is very knowledgeable about All Stars and other older blanks (I think he has a big collection) and likely could guide you towards a close replacement.
