Day trip to the block
My wife and I are taking the ferry to Block for the day. Are there tackle shops on the island and where are they in relation to the ferry. Also does any one know a good reasonably priced place to eat on the island? thanks charlie

I always get lunch at the block island grocery store. Reasonable prices.

BI fishworks and Twin Maples. TM may have some GRS but not sure. It is fairly far. You taking bikes?
|
BI Fishworks is never open, Twin Maples is a good shop but a bout 3/4 to a mile from the ferry, you will need transportation to get to the really good fishing spots
|
Which ferry are you taking?

It was the best place for stargazing.[/QUOTE]
Isn't that the truth! The south side of the Block never had ambient light. |

It is the most amazing place for star gazing. I have seen a few things that i cant explain on the new moon. No other place like it on earth. |
South side was inspiration for "Black as Coal"
{It was a very dark night, the kind I like. I refer to them as "Black as Coal" nights. No artificial light of any kind. The kind of darkness only experienced far out at sea away from the nighttime glow of civilization. The Cape and the Islands come to mind. Surfcasters know of these nights. The kind of night where you have to touch your plug after each cast to check for weed. The kind of night you retrieve the barrel swivel of your leader into your rod tip.} |
