The Cape

Anyone interested in fishing during the next week and a half? We're making the annual trip out to Harwich on Wednesday (tied up with wedding festivities Thursday-Saturday) but the few fishermen on the in-laws side dropped out of the following week so all my surf and kayak plans went solo.

Won't be out there for another week.5 otherwise would have called

With all these reports of seals snacking on massive schools of bunker, I might go fill up with some 80lb test and try the ole sleigh ride for some blubber

If it is any help.

I just got back from Dennis on a week trip with the family. We arrived 7/15. I did well on the bay side. I had a full moon tide and serious wind in my favor plus it was high tide so I found an area that made sense to me being a rock structure fisherman mostly. When the tide rolled in between sandbars and the rocky area that was there near high tide the conditions were perfect and I did well with 4 30+ lb. fish plus many not far off in the 20 + ranges. No scale, but nice girthy fish just shy of 45".

Couldn't figure out why I was the only guy out there in this spot. Everyone else fished the beach without luck or minimal results. My light was on and off all the time and at least 4 times I couldn't land the fish on the rock I was on and headed into shore to land it and release it. One I couldn't revive and kept it and fed the neighborhood.

OK, well I did not say where I caught them. Other than the bay side. Out of respect for others who have knowledge I will not.

The lure that worked in my situation was a loaded C10 redfin. All other similar lures would actually hang on rocks, not a lot of water.

Worked all week. Some days with wind were top notch. Other days just schoolies. Two nights were spectacular out of seven, both with strong winds coming from the west.

It all depends on finding the right spot

I've decided to follow this threads direction (the part where it fell off the bridge) and launch the yak in Ptown tomorrow and pedal till a BFT shows up on my sonar... I'll leave a note directing the rescuers to this thread if things go south...

Time to go research gear requirements for such an endeavor

Yudi, what do you load a redfin with so that it floats above the rocks and can I get some

Seals everywhere... Didn't bring the kayak out here since the place my sister in law was staying didn't have dedicated parking and I didn't have a lock for the car top. I'm taking tonight off to recharge the batteries further then going to fish more as the week progresses
