Canal Amusement Park

2 Attachment(s)
The Amusement Park scene is another reason to hang around the Canal, if the fishing is bad. I counted 75 casting fishermen between the Split Rock and Pole 192 (Skip's spot) one late afternoon, Cape side, a week or so ago.

But could anybody be this bad, to hang a Guppy plug on the cross wire?
Anybody have a story about this?

All the newbees fish the Canal now because it's easy. They don't know how to fish and, if they aren't fishing a breaking tide at the CCC, they couldn't catch their A$$ with both hands.

This goes for alot of "great" fishermen. Take them out of the ditch, and it's over. Take away their eels, and they would draw blanks for weeks on end. Take away commercial fishing, and illegal sale of bass, and they may never fish again. Sad but true.

They are the same jackasses that invade the housy in march, and never fish the river any other month of the year...

"The striped bass population is great bro, I fish the canal like 20 times a year there are plenty of bass left" - every idiot on the river in march :)

Would you rather be the one that cast it up there....

...or the fool that would try to retrieve it????? :bgi:

No Problem SAUERKRAUT. I'll put my big ladder on the roof racks tomorrow morning and get your plug back to you. :chased:

Thats impressive. I bet it was someone from NJ chasing reports. You won't catch me there when the sun is up but even after dark it's been a #^&#^&#^&#^& show this year. I think a lot of guys who fish there are afraid of the dark because they all sit there with there light on.

I lose stuff in some pretty dumb ways-- but not this bad.

Guppys cheap form of advertising. Brilliant! I bet once that cast was made there were 7 others in the same exact direction! Lol

The first 3 hog hunter/guppy plugs i ever got were floaters/stuck in the rocks at the canal.

Years back there was a hot cross dresser that frequented the herring run in a nice red dress, low cut plunging neck line and spike heels; now that was amusement🙀

Both locations are easy if the fish are there. Try leaving your phone home and see how it goes. Information and reports from others make the difference in my opinion.

There is canal fishing and there is beach fishing, also boulder field and estuary. All different. A complete angler is one that can adapt to each. Some days being the only one that catches is more satifying than being one of many that catch. Personally, living 3 miles from Bell Road may spoil me but fact is 80% of my canal fishing has been mid canal east to way east this season as that is where fish have been. Some days it us fishing and not catching. Just a fact. Personally I love the challenge daily change brings.

Was down at Ma. Maritime all day today.
Admittedly I know little about the canal but was watching that ripping current going from west to east and there was an older mid 20ft Novi going through against the current, barely making headway.
Couldn't help to think that would be a bad place to loose power in a boat !

This spring I was heading to a favorite spot across the canal and up inside BB and it was a honking SW against a hard east to west current and I couldn't believe the size and short spacing of the standing waves as I drove along the canal. I'd not go near that place in a small boat under certain wind/tide conditions.
