? on older 20' Mako hulls
 

Does anyone have any experience with these older Mako hulls?
I may be in the market soon for a 70's to mid 80's 20-21 hull to repower and the Mako 20' looks like a good fit from the stats. Im interested in any user reviews

No personal experience. but the ones that I've seen are built like tanks. No problems that I've heard of except for boats that have been really beat on, those might have transom problems.

I wouldn't be afraid of takeing one on as a project boat...back in the 70's an early 80's they put alot of glass in the boats, aleast you'd have something good to work on.

I have a '83 MAKO 21' CC. Put on a Yam200 '00 and love it. Trailerable, decent in ocean, great in bay.

No structural problems at all. Very little gel coat crazing.

I bought it in good shape and then added all the options.

Ive been looking at the 20' because of its low hull draft of 9", so I can get in and out of my waterway at low tides.

I just might have what you are looking for. I got a 1971 Mako19. she actually measures 20'6". She is in decent used shape. It is being sold with a 86 Mercury 115 that has a #^&#^&#^&#^&load of hours on it. No electrionics. Old aluminum trailer works but needs work. PM me. Would consider selling without motor

Krispy - the good news about Basic Boat, Patrick's Mako, is that it has caught a fair anount of fish and already has some good Fish Mojo. The bad news is that it's been on the bad end of much flatulence and with the older boats having high wood content in their construction, I'm afraid you'll never get that out....

A fair amount of good fish....tween the name Blackjack when Captain Mike owned it and Basic Boat when I owned it there are someting like 23 tournament Victories.....and yes it is at home on MV

Might even come with a 35 Gallon Livewell....might:D

Seriously, Krispy...I am williong to let it go cheap to the right guy...It was my first boat and I want it to go to a guy that will bwe able to get into aboat that probably could not.

i too have looked into older, pre-'92, mako's. the only suggestion is to have a professional inspection completed. they can check the engine, ribs, etc. it may cost a couple bills, but may be worthwhile in the long run.
