Weeekend Plans - Are You Ready For Some...

Garoppolo?

What's up for the weekend?? If you are like me you are probably working. Football Sunday night. Really having issues with the NFL.

Fishing is On Now. This is the time. Go Fish. Now.

So what's up for the weekend?

Rob Rockcrawler 09-09-2016 07:42 AM

Fishing saturday, Sunday getting 2-3 cord of wood from a neighbor. I always wind up waiting till November to get it all stacked.

Billybob 09-09-2016 08:06 AM

Fishing tomorrow ,hoping things are starting to move.
Stripers before dawn, and then bottom fish with the outside chance of spotting some funny fish.
There's always big blues if we get bored.

Sunday, I paint.

No.... pretty disgusted with the NFL in general as well..

tomorrow Hauling the boat so I can pressure test the lower unit and find how the water is getting in... ( I've ordered a complete seal kit and speedy sleeves for the drive and driven shafts) .. I need this issue resolved so I can fish.

Sunday making tomato sauce and freezing vegetables for the winter

Hookedagain 09-09-2016 10:24 AM

Comedy show fund raiser tonight for my sons hockey team. Fish tomorrow and Seeking Speedway to watch the Modified's tomorrow night. Fish Sunday morning.

basswipe 09-09-2016 12:21 PM

Whelen Modifieds are back at Seekonk!Hopefully I'm back home in time to catch the end of the Cup race and Jeff will be out front.

My hopes for Jimmy G on Sunday aren't so enthusiastic,he's going to spend a fair amount of time on the ground.

This weekend last year yielded a 30+ so I'll be squeezing in a few casts.

RickBomba 09-09-2016 02:22 PM

Jack's 5th birthday is today, so I spent 4 hours putting together a fish tank for him.

Tomorrow probably take a trip to Thomas land.

Sunday take it easy, as I have to be at MGH at 8 on Monday. Oh joy!

Wishing I was fishing.

chefchris401 09-09-2016 02:24 PM

Chasing footballs (albies) on Saturday & Sunday morning

Going to keep on this big school of mullet I've found and keep fishing hard, took some solid 20lb fish the last 3 nights on skin plugs and surface metal lips in skinny water

Mullet showed up after the storm and are real early, I'm not complaining at all.

John, I cut back my football watching by 99% after they let Michael Vick back in, and don't miss it. I can't bring myself to root for most of these guys, just because of the color of the jersey. During WWII, if an athlete did that, we would not have stood for it. Now, we barely care, and for sure, there are no consequences for the guy who gave the finger to our military during a time of war. If that's a cultural leap forward, I fail to see it. Turn the game off, go for a hike instead. My friends can't believe I don't watch anymore. Nothing would ever make me go back. At one point, Tom Brady had 2 women that were pregnant by him, at the same time. That's putrid. I'm going to tell my kids that there's anything about him, that I want them to emulate? No, thanks.

Just coming back from a decent morning on the CT shore Have a small keeper bass for the grill, my 10 year-old and I will prepare that, and fresh corn on the cob, for dinner. Fresh fish and corn on the charcoal grill. Mmmmmm.

Kids and fish tanks are a great mix!! Better than watching TV.

Funny that with a guy like Hernandez and a league full of thugs that Brady spreading his seed is what tipped the apple cart. Strange times indeed.

Jim - your call. Rooting for laundry is the only reason I still watch Football. I can find numerous worse issues I have with the NFL and players

The list of issues is endless. Thuggery, domestic violence, drugs, violence, womanizing...If we all stopped watching for one week, and told them why, they would fix it, in the next nanosecond. Because all they care about, is the money. If we told them no more money until it's cleaned up, it would be cleaned up. There was a time in our cultural history, and not all that long ago, when huge numbers of people would walk away, rather than root for guys who behave this way.

If we watch the games, go to the games, and buy the merchandise, you shouldn't complain about the behavior that is tolerated. You are funding it.

I can't get myself to root for laundry, when it's worn by someone who is morally bankrupt.

Funny if you had bothered to read my post, you'd see that dogfighting was what tipped the applecart for me. I used Brady, because (1) he is still playing, (2) I presume he is beloved here, as he plays for New England, and (3) I bet most people here root for him, despite the fact that he's a cheater who none of us would let him anywhere near our daughters.

Turn the TV off, throw a football with your kid instead, and while doing so, tell him the story of Pat Tillman, a genuine hero.

I think Bridget Moynahan and Gisele what's her face were pregnant at the same time. Why are you pretty sure that's not true?

Poncho 09-10-2016 04:36 PM

How was the fish and corn???

Because those boys are more than two years apart in age....

And Vick did serve his time... The greatest generation would acknowledge that and say move ahead, IMO.

Now Kapernick is another story, along with the petty thug overpaid millionaires.

Insanely good. Fresh striper, cooked over some beautiful, clean, pure lump charcoal. Corn was dynamite with garlic butter and hot sauce.

I had heard they were pregnant at the same time. I just found a link that says you are right, they are 16 months apart. I was dead wrong there. It doesn't say anything good about him.

"Vick did serve his time". I never said he escaped before his sentence was up. His actions mean he's a pure sociopath. I have no desire to put a single dime in his pocket. We can disagree on that, too.

Ingrid Bergman (spelling) was the biggest actress in the world at the time that the greatest generation came of age. She slept with a married man, got pregnant. The Greatest Generation was so put off by what she did, she moved to Europe. I can't prove what they would do here, as you accurately said, I only have my opinion. And in my opinion, if the Greatest Generation took a good look at what our culture looks like today (arguing over which bathroom to use) they'd wonder what the hell they fought for.

My point, was that a lot of people are complaining about the way NFL players are acting (in my opinion, with good reason). Well, the fans are the only ones who can do anything about it, and they can do it right quick if they choose to. Turn it off, watch what happens.

Good for you, the sign of a great Dad. It's a great thing to introduce a kid to. I keep wanting to pull the trigger on a saltwater reef tank, but can't justify the expense. I could stare at a fishtank all day, good way to bring the blood pressure down. Good way to teach kids a bit about chemistry and science, too.

How big? What do you have in there?

nightfighter 09-10-2016 06:51 PM

August 2007. December 2009. I aint too smart, but on a casual glance, that looks like more than 16 months. So might want to be more attentive to your sources.
As for it not saying anything good about him, what goes on between couples and why they stay or split is a private matter.
The greatest generation deserves its own thread....

Jim likes to throw crap against the wall to see what sticks. He makes assumptions and puts zero research into his babble. I agree the league has problems, big problems, but I love watching. Especially with my kids, the oldest is a draftnik who just may represent these thugs one day. If Jim had mentioned Hardy or Carruth then he may have actually made a valid point. Somehow I predict a rebuttal where he will tell us all how right he is.

Dangles, I specified my reasons for using Brady as but one example (though one of my criticisms was wrong). Sorry if they went over your head. Most people like watching the NFL, and that's fine. But if you keep giving them your money, you lose much of your right to complain about the product you are buying. If you are offended by the product as I was, there is a sure-fire way to deal with it. That's all I was saying. For an entire team to reportedly consider sitting during the anthem, on the 15th anniversary of 9/11 for Gods sake, is something I won't support. Taking my kids to an amusement park all day.

It's always something to watch people who are that talented. I get the draw, especially if your son has a connection. Personally, I can no longer overlook the deplorable behavior.

This source says August 08 and December 09. I don't have access to birth certificates.

LOTS of people have kids with more than one woman, you're right.

More babble, thanks for proving my point. Out of two items you decided were worth sharing, one was about a guy who was a dog villain and the other fathered a child out of wedlock. Batting 500 is good I guess. Congrats and have fun at the amusement park, you will fit right in with the carnival barkers.

So you you don't believe in sex before wedlock and conclude that it doesn't say anything good about him, interesting that you seem to focus only on the negative. I wonder if you are aware of any of the positive things Tom Brady has accomplished or if they are relevant.

As far as calling/labeling him a cheater, what evidence is there that he is or was a cheater? If you are basing it on something you heard(like the 2 women pregnant at one time you heard) then you are dead wrong there also. The media "heard" from someone with an obvious agenda that can't seem to find a way to beat the Patriots on the field so he told them there were 11 of 12 balls 2 psi under the minimum and the court of public opinion took it from there and further the nfl called in the guy to investigate who is supposed to be impartial but went at it from the beginning as if the Pats did something to the air pressure so he went on to turn in his one sided findings and Goodell bought it while completely dismissing science and the referee's best recollection of which gauge he used(since the other gauge fits there agenda better) , and with the authority given to Goodell by the CBA, he hammers the team and slaps Brady with suspension for general knowledge with no proof of any wrongdoing. How is that integrity? based on some joking texts made by a knucklehead? Again for those in the country who don't understand, air pressure decreases in colder weather, when applied to the actual measurements, you will see that the balls lost no air molecules just as the Colts balls had they been measured properly before gaining temperature would have shown a loss of pressure as a few of them that were measured did show.
But you want to go by what you heard since you are not a fan.
Try basing your opinion on facts instead of hearsay.

Fifteen years ago today the country was hit by a tragic terrorist attack and we all pulled together, I'm sure together we can accomplish anything, including defeating ISIS and radical Islamic terrorism. God bless those lost to terror
