Hurricane Matthew

Currently is a monster. Cat 4. 40 inches of rain for Haiti??!!?? That's crazy.

So four days to make a decision about hauling boat. Likely would be out for the season... Would hate to do that.

you beat me to the post...it makes my decision easier.. boats have to be off the docks 10/15... river fishing has been slow ( unless you like schoolies)...everything has been out front....at best the ocean is going to be rough for a few days..so the boat is not in play... I'll haul tonight when I'm done fishing and finish the season from shore...

If there's one thing I know about Marblehead harbor it's that in any serious storm, boats go there to die.

Haul it Ross !

I don't have to worry about my boat anymore I sold it on Sunday. All I got to do is throw the anchor overboard in the yard for the tin boat now.

Really has nothing to do with Mathew, but my boat is being hauled today.

Talked to a guy yesterday who runs a boatyard in Newport. His phone is ringing off the hook - absolute madhouse.

Clammer 10-04-2016 10:49 AM

I HOPE i.ll BE ALLOWED TO STAY IN ><. where I use to put it when we had a real storm was the middle of my back yard ..now I can,t get it there with the growth of trees ><>< , I don,t think we,ll get it , but my next option is either run inside the hurracane dam in prov or the back of E/G cove & ride it out .....................The bluefish will be smokin if it comes ,' But for now its date day .....Gale are I are off to catch as many crabs as time allows .:sled: off road pass

JohnR 10-04-2016 12:51 PM

I would let you put it in my yard but I think that would be bad with the trees we also loose in a big storm. How about putting it over at Messer?? Let me know if you need a hand pulling it out. DO NOT ride it out past the HD or in the back of EG :gorez:

Looking like we might have a pretty good chance of a close call. I was always happy to have a boat on a trailer I could move around to prepare.

Clean your gutters after hauling the boat.

I pulled my boat last week due to a misbehaved trim switch. Just moved her to Scituate for a front row seat.

Models looked better for a miss this morning.. but who knows... boat's home on the trailer... so it can be crushed by a huge pine tree... at least it wont sink:humpty:...

I've had this boat through Gloria...Bob.. the "no name" storm, the remnants of Sandy.. and a host or Nor'easters..not worried about this one either...just being cautious.
I cleaned the Gutters last weekend and tested the Generator so I'll just get my popcorn and watch...

Nebe 10-05-2016 07:03 AM

Agreed. Models look better today.

Yes - hope the track stays hard east. Interesting last models show backing on itself - similar to a storm a few years ago that hit that area twice.

If you want, you can use my slip at Stone Cove Marina, slip A25. I've already pulled the boat for the season and its very protected there. The marina is at the North end of the great salt pond.

I like how your big map is updated, John. Given the current track, I am staying in. Joe, you are welcome to come down to my neck of the woods... We could even do some daylight fishing if the pogies are still around!

The link to the image is that of the WU site so when they update their image - it updates here. This is why I put the historical copy of the image to show changes.

This storm might really suck - models have it hitting FL twice now.

Cool Beans 10-05-2016 01:16 PM

Weird , the track now shows grazing FL, looping and then cutting across florida and into the Gulf. Looks like it wont even get anywhere near us on the current model. never seen one do that before/

PaulS 10-05-2016 01:31 PM

I was hoping for some rain.

Didn't Andrew do the same thing?

Andrew went across southern Florida and into the gulf, then turned north east and went over land. It didn't hit the same area twice.
