Big lures for inlets?
 

Read an OTW article about a local that fishes 2 inlets here on LI, one is a very rough inlet and I couldn't imagine tossing anything other than bucktails, heavy weighted storm shads, or eels without getting swept out of the strike zone. However, the author says he throws "monster 10 to 12 inch swimmers" from the rocks.

I've hit bottom with the heavy SS needle meant for heavy surf (not 10" long though) but other than that or a fake eel plug, anyone have ideas on what would be used here and not cause the submarine effect? Maybe one of those trolling bomber plugs?

Northbar bottle darters more then likely as well as deep diving pikies would be my plugs of choice

Loaded NB bottle darters

Never been to were you fish but have fished very fast outgoing and if it's not too deep try a sinker plug that drags on the bottom.
You just might have a few fish sitting in a hole waiting for a snack.

Conrads... bottles and not to be forgotten goo goo eyes.....it might be classified as a trolling plug but I've taken more than a few outsized bass from the PI jetties in that 5 knot tide when everything else rolled out..

Any thoughts on fast sinking Sebiles? Kind of surprised they have not come up in the conversation.

Stick shad for sure. Magic swimmer with the current direction for sure too. White in both
