When we had the warm weather last week there were a few singing in the pond behind my house :)

Been going nuts in Kingston, MA for a few days now. Also getting pics of some freshwater action from my cousin is giving me that old fashioned romantic feeling.
|
None in Northern RI but if we don't get frozen tonight and tomorrow, I'm thinking next week.
|
Heard them Monday night.

No actually small amphibious inhabitants of many local vernal pools and ponds. When they get their "chorus" singing, it can carry quite a distance. After them will come the toads and tree frogs with their own "brand of music". I look forward to it every spring, almost as much as I look forward to first ice in December.... |
Peepers here now frog cubes. They make for interesting cocktails.

Red wing blackbirds made an appearance.
|
Once I hear peepers and the common grackles show up, it's time to pull the bird feeders and get the gear ready.
