Looking for ideas on basement rod storage
I just bought a house and I am looking for ideas on basement rod storage. I currently live in a condo and I store my rods on top of shelves. I am planning on hanging them from the ceiling but with so many rods I am looking for some clever ideas.

I've been using PVC pipe hangers in my rafters. You can be creative with them.

I screw rod holders to the joists for the small spin gear. For the rest of it I use rubber coated screw hooks into the joists. I also keep gear in the garage with the same rod holders,I think they are berkley, but with those I screw them to the drywall.

Rubber coated "J" hooks - reel end aligned parallel to one another, rod tip end offset on parallel angle to one another to facilitate easy removal/replacement of rod. The two sets of J hooks are spaced closely enough together to prevent rod sag in the middle.

If the ceiling is not going to be finished, just buy a length or two of inch and a half PVC pipe, cut it to the lengths you need and screw them into the rafters.

I use the big insulated L hooks.
Small rods you can put 4 up. Big sticks 2, I face the reel ends opposite each other to better utize space. Plus they allow to position the rods with barely any weight forward. The blank kind of floats on the hooks. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
