Tidal flow help, Cuttyhunk
I have probably been through this many times, but it is a little fuzzy... Does anyone know how the current moves around the island given a certain time for high or low tide on a given day? Sometimes it seems as if the south side is hours off from the tide inside the harbor... Haven't found anything on the web yet.

For the north side this link can help https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/no...s?id=ACT1941_1
For the south this link https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/no...s?id=ACT1866_1 The shape of the island makes it more complicated, however. For example, the flood.......coming from Gay Head direction.....hits the south side and some is pushed around the southwest end (i.e., pyramids) going L to R on the shore if you are facing Gay Head. In mid island you pass a transition zone or dead spot, then get into a R to L flow near the clubhouse. With big moons you can even get another reversal near canapisit channel peeling back down barges beach a ways. |
Have you looked at an Eldridge tide / current chart?
