BABY BUNKER?
I COULDN'T TELL WHAT TYPE OF BAIT FISH THEY WERE, BUT LAST NIGHT THE BAIT DOWN AROUND THE POWDERPOINT BRIDGE WAS SO THICK THAT WHENEVER THEY MOVED IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS POURING RAIN IN THAT ONE AREA.
THE AMAZING THING WAS THAT NO MATTER WHERE I WALKED THEY WERE THERE - IN THE THOUSANDS. ALTHOUGH I WAS FISHING AT THE BEGINNING OF THE INCOMING TIDE, THERE WERE SOME EXPLOSIVE BASS ATTACKS IN THE SHALLOW WATER. I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO STAY LATER, BUT I HAD OTHER PLANS. |
Saw what I am almost certain were several small schools this morning off Island Park in Portsmouth.Small blues tearing'em up.
To far out for me tell what they actually were but it sure looked like the peanut bunker I saw so much of last year. |
i have no idea what the bait is down by the powder point bridge. ive seen them too. theyr like 1/2" long, really chubby. havent seen one close up but the schoolie bass, snapper blues, and fluke are devouring them. billions of them.

Peanut Bunker, west end of Buzzards, yes yes yes
|
Tons of it at the Vinyard!! Every Fluke spit up tons of them. I had bunker all over the boat just after a few fish!
|
Lotsa them here in NJ, small though, about 1.5"-2". They grow fast though, and by October should be around 4-5".
|
